Newburgh produces a number of sub assemblies used in the fuel stringers for all UK Advanced Gas Cooled Reactors.

Investment: £2m

Newburgh has invested in setting up a bespoke facility for manufacture of these parts. Investment is ongoing as we continually improve our processes to guarantee 100% compliance to specification and lowest possible cost.

Contract:

Contract value is £20m over a ten-year period.

History:

Newburgh had been one of a number of suppliers producing these parts until in 1991 our customer decided to select only two suppliers. Newburgh was one of these suppliers. It was made clear at this time that their intention was to move toward a single supplier when the contract was renewed. We decided that cellular manufacture was the correct route for future production and proceeded to identify and procure the correct machinery. Once the cell was fully implemented we could offer our customer reduced costs and improved quality, this resulted in us winning a ten-year single source contract.
